Project: Tucker Nature Center, Ardmore, OK

Type: Public Visitor Center

Description: This visitor and interpretive center for the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department combines stone, steel and glulam trusses. One-third of the building slab cantilevers over Lake Murray. The building incorporates many “green” features, including solar roof panels, daylight harvesting, super insulation, energy efficient lighting and controls, lake source heat pumps, ultra low consumption restroom fixtures, and a cistern for landscape irrigation. The project is designed to meet LEED Silver certification.

Description: These four ultra-modern 2000 sq. ft. residences comprise a micro-community feel, with shared common courtyard and drive, yet carefully controlled views between homes as well as a private outdoor living space for each home. Structural highlights include open stairs with single tube stringer and architectural sunscreens.

Description: This large-scale project is built over a full basement and features 18 ft. floor-to-floor height, composite steel and concrete floor designed to support forklift loads, and features a large, cantilevered second floor suspended from the roof structure.

Project: Guardian, Oklahoma City, OK
Architect: Fitzsimmons Architects
Type: Urban multi story mixed-use building

Description: This 38,000 sq. ft. structure offers a unique blend of retail and office space in this traditional cityscape. The Guardian offers flexible floor plans with retail space on the first floor and residential units upstairs.  The structural challenge consisted of salvaging and repairing the steel deck, and 3-wythe brick walls.  The residential space includes a new very slick mezzanine floor.  The parking and exterior alley portals complete the award winning vision.

18th Street Studio

Project: 18th Street Studios, Oklahoma City, OK
Architect: Fitzsimmons Architects
Type: Multifamily Apartment Building

 

Description: 18th Street Studios is a 3 story loft-style apartment concept that embraces the true nature of the open loft concept. The only built-in walls, cabinetry and fixtures are in the kitchen and bath cores, to allow tenants to configure their spaces to fit the own needs or desires using prefabricated storage and wall modules.  Another amenity of the 18th Street Studios are large outdoor patios provided for each unit creating an indoor/outdoor living opportunity.  This project called for a simple and efficient structure that combined steel post and beam and open web wood trusses.

Description: Our office space is a renovated warehouse we share with BGA Architects, 308 Design Collaborative, and d.build. A second level was added perpendicular to the first, creating an overhang with a space for projecting outdoor movies. Our building is attached to another favorite project, the Hart Building.
